“I was nervous knowing that many colleges are predominantly white institutions and feeling like I didn’t belong. The comfort came from recognizing I wouldn’t be alone, that there are programs like the Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity to support first-generation, underrepresented students.”.
Preparing for college can feel overwhelming. Our MOR team aims to make it easier, by providing a clear list of steps to take, course requirements to meet, and events to attend as you prepare for and apply to the UW.
We offer culturally relevant programming and a mix of on-campus, virtual and community events focused on expanding college access for students who have been underrepresented and underserved, including Native and Indigenous peoples, first-generation students, those from under-resourced and rural communities, students with foster-care experience and LGBTQIA+ students.
MOR is a college outreach and recruitment resource for students interested in attending the University of Washington. We identify, attract and recruit a diverse and talented student body to help foster an intellectually and culturally vibrant campus community. Through our events and programs, students can explore the UW, prepare for college, and navigate the application process. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff and student ambassadors are always ready to answer questions and provide support.
