Shades of Purple

About the Event

Shades of Purple is a one-day student conference for American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, and Southeast Asian high school seniors (Class of 2023) in Washington who are interested in attending the University of Washington in Seattle.

Shades of Purple was created to encourage you to pursue higher education as well as to give you the opportunity to experience the University of Washington. You will attend workshops to prepare you for the UW admission process, learn about campus programs, meet admissions staff and much more.

We are hosting the Shades of Purple Conference in-person throughout Washington and virtual. All sessions will follow the same agenda, please see registration below for full details such as dates and locations.

Note: Application and participation is open to all students regardless of race/ethnic background.

Prioritizing Health

Our priority is the health and safety of our students and community. Shades of Purple will be hosted in a virtual format. Though we are moving to a virtual setting, we plan to deliver the same valuable content as we would in-person. If you do not have access to a laptop or reliable Wi-Fi to participate, please contact us at reach@uw.edu.

Parent/Guardian Permission Form

Students are required to submit a parent/guardian permission form to participate in the virtual conference. You will be emailed a permission slip via DocuSign several days before the conference. As soon as you receive it, please have your parent/guardian digitally submit the form.
